Speaking Life Therapy is the private counselling, psychotherapy and
Social Work practice of Allison Cusack.
Allison is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker/
Psychotherapist and has over eighteen years’ experience in providing
counselling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults.
She enjoys helping clients better understand themselves and likes
teaching people strategies to restore balance and functioning in their life.
She is passionate about educating clients that recovery is indeed possible
and then journeying with them as they develop a fulfilling and
vibrant life.
Her approach is professional yet relatable. Many clients have expressed that Allison has been the first professional with whom they felt
comfortable, who understood them, and who has actually made a difference. Whilst Allison receives a lot of referrals from GP’s, her main
referral source continues to be word of mouth, which indicates a very high level of client satisfaction.
Allison has worked in hospital, disability, schools, and government mental health services and has been in private practice since 2008.
She has specialist training in mental health and trauma counselling and does regular training to ensure that her therapy approaches work
and are in tune with recent research. Whilst her focus is on individual counselling, she incorporates some couple and family work as
needed. She individually tailors the way she works with people and often uses a variety of creative therapy methods with Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Christian inner healing techniques
are also available upon request.
Allison also works as a Generalist Social Worker in the fields of palliative care and chronic disease management.
